Apple Health data

With your permission, Fried Chicken reads Step Count from Apple Health to calculate daily goals, estimated weekly walking minutes, XP, streaks, achievements and rankings. Fried Chicken never writes to Apple Health.

Raw HealthKit samples are processed on your iPhone. We do not send or store individual samples, sample timestamps or source-level HealthKit records. Fried Chicken sends and retains the eligible total for a calendar day, including the current day, so your history, XP and leaderboards remain consistent across sessions and devices. Manually entered steps are excluded from eligible progress.

Weekly walking-minute details stay on your device. The app may send the code of a permanent achievement you earned so Fried Chicken can calculate aggregate Achievement Book rarity. That code does not include the underlying samples or your walking-minute total.

Information we collect

• Account: a pseudonymous Sign in with Apple identifier, an encrypted Apple authorization token when provided, session identifiers and account dates.
• Profile: your chosen username, daily goal, language, time zone, and country or region selected for Local League.
• Private onboarding: birth date, routine and app-discovery answers, and an optional referral code. Earlier sex, height and weight answers may remain on existing accounts. These answers are not public.
• Health-derived activity: eligible daily step totals, the goal in effect for a submitted day, date, integrity status and permanent achievement codes used for XP, rankings and aggregate rarity.
• Social and events: friendships, friend requests, invitation status, blocks, notification preferences, Wings, Clucks, milestone events, official event participation and passport rewards.
• Safety: reports you submit, including an optional description, and moderation records.
• Product interaction: onboarding screen progress, elapsed time, permission outcomes, app version and locale. These events measure setup completion and abandonment and do not contain your onboarding answers or step totals.
• Device and integrity: push-notification tokens, app version, App Attest public-key records, and security or rate-limit events.
• Groups and challenges: Groups you create or join, names and descriptions you submit, roles, invitations and membership changes, challenge participation, eligible activity totals, progress and results.
• Purchases: Apple product and transaction identifiers, subscription status and dates, and refund or revocation information. We process an account token from Apple to associate a purchase with your Fried Chicken account. We do not receive your payment-card or bank details.
• Profile rewards: Event participation and reward progress, earned Passport stamps, avatar and banner unlocks, and the cosmetics you choose to display.

What we do not store

• Raw HealthKit samples, timestamps or source-level records.
• Manually entered steps as XP, achievement or leaderboard credit.
• GPS history or precise location trails.
• Your contacts, advertising identifier or government name.

How information is used

We use this information to operate Fried Chicken: authenticate accounts, calculate progress, restore eligible history, provide Friends, Local and Global League rankings, run official events and passport rewards, deliver requested notifications, calculate aggregate Achievement Book rarity, prevent fraud and spam, moderate usernames, respond to reports, secure the service and provide support. Fried Chicken may be funded through subscriptions, paid features, sponsorships or contextual promotions that are not targeted using health or fitness information. We do not use or disclose HealthKit data or information derived from it for advertising, marketing, sale to data brokers or unrelated use-based data mining. Commercial offers are not selected or measured using step totals, walking minutes, goals, achievements, streaks, rankings or other health-derived activity. If future monetization introduces a new use of personal information, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required before that use begins.

Birth date supports age eligibility; other answers support setup and service improvement, not medical decisions. The 2.0 setup does not request sex, height or weight.

Where applicable, we process information to provide the service you request, with your consent or explicit consent for health-derived information, and for our legitimate interests in security, fraud prevention, support and service improvement. You may withdraw consent by changing Apple Health access or deleting your account, although this does not affect earlier lawful processing.

We also use these records to operate Groups and challenges, verify and restore Crispy Fried Chicken purchases, determine access to subscription benefits, grant earned Event rewards and display your selected profile cosmetics. In-app Updates are shared announcements. Fried Chicken does not keep a per-person read/unread record for these announcements; ordinary authenticated requests remain subject to the security and rate-limit processing described in this policy.

What other people can see

Accepted friends and, when you choose to participate, people on Local or Global League boards may see your chosen username, eligible daily step total, ranking and selected milestone activity. Local and Global League visibility are controlled separately. Achievement rarity appears only as an aggregate percentage after enough walkers participate; it does not identify who earned an achievement. Other people do not see your Apple ID, raw HealthKit data, manually entered steps, precise location or report details. AI rivals are fictional and generated locally in the app.

When you join a Group, other members can see your profile name, Group role and membership, and the eligible activity, rankings and challenge progress shown within that Group. Hiding from Local or Global League does not make your activity private within a Group you have joined. Your selected avatar and banner may be visible to signed-in walkers who can see your profile in search, Friends, leagues, Groups or challenges, subject to each view's access and visibility rules. Group and challenge names and descriptions you submit are visible to the people who can access that Group or challenge. Invitation links may show a limited Group preview to anyone who has the link.

Service providers

Cloudflare processes and stores account, ranking, security and website delivery data on our behalf. Apple provides Sign in with Apple, Apple Health, App Attest, Apple Push Notification service and App Store purchases. Apple processes payment details; Fried Chicken receives the transaction and subscription information needed to verify purchases and access. These providers process information under their own terms and data-protection commitments. We do not sell personal information or share health-derived information with advertisers or data brokers.

Website analytics

This website does not use analytics cookies or load Google Analytics or advertising trackers. The hosting provider processes requests and security logs to deliver and protect the website.

Retention and deletion

Account, profile, eligible daily totals, permanent achievement codes, XP, Event participation, Passport rewards and social records are retained while your account is active. Expired or revoked sessions, authentication challenges and some request and notification-rate records are removed on shorter operational schedules. Other notification-delivery records are retained with the related account, device or event rather than deleted on a fixed time schedule.

You can delete your Fried Chicken account in the app under Profile > Your Account > Delete Account. This removes your server account, username, onboarding profile, account-linked onboarding events, friendships, eligible daily totals, achievement awards, XP, push tokens and associated social records, and Fried Chicken requests revocation of its Sign in with Apple authorization. Information already stored in Apple Health stays under your control in Apple Health. You can also export the app's locally cached daily history from Profile.

Account deletion also removes your Group memberships, challenge participation, subscription entitlement and earned profile-reward records. Groups you own and challenges you created are deleted along with their dependent membership, participation and result records. Leaving a Group is not account deletion: membership-period history remains, and a challenge can continue to show activity and results earned while you were a member.

Limited Apple purchase, transaction and subscription-notification records remain after account deletion; the stored transaction link to your deleted Fried Chicken account is removed. These records support purchase restoration, prevention of transaction reuse, refunds and disputes. They do not currently have an automatic time-based deletion schedule. Cancelling a subscription or letting it expire does not delete your Fried Chicken account. Deleting the app or your Fried Chicken account does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage or cancel it in your Apple Account subscription settings.

Deleting records from the live service does not immediately erase earlier database recovery copies. Cloudflare D1 keeps recovery history for up to 30 days, depending on the service plan.

Inactive accounts are not currently deleted automatically. If an account has no sign-in, authenticated app activity or eligible score submission for 24 consecutive months, Fried Chicken may treat it as inactive. We may close an inactive account and delete its associated server data after at least 30 days' notice through the app, a push notification or another contact channel available to us, where reasonably practicable. Signing in during the notice period keeps the account active.

Your choices and rights

You can change Apple Health access in iPhone Settings, control Wing, Cluck and other friend notifications in Profile, hide your profile separately from Local or Global League, block or report another walker, remove friends, choose your Local League region subject to its fairness lock, sign out or delete your account. Applicable privacy laws may also give you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to or receive a copy of personal information, withdraw consent, or complain to a data-protection authority. Submit a request through Profile > Help & Support. Fried Chicken will respond as required by applicable law.

Local and Global League control personal-name standings separately. Country rankings aggregate eligible activity independently of those choices. Contact us at hello@getfriedchicken.com for privacy requests if you cannot use in-app support.

Children

Fried Chicken's account and social features are not intended for children under 13, or a higher minimum age where local law requires it. If you believe a child provided personal information contrary to this rule, contact us.

Security and international processing

We use encrypted network connections, hashed account identifiers, encrypted Apple authorization tokens, short-lived access sessions, App Attest, rate limits and access controls. No service can guarantee absolute security. Cloudflare and Apple may process information in countries other than your own under their data-protection commitments and applicable transfer safeguards.

Accuracy and informational use

Step totals, estimated walking minutes, XP, streaks, achievements and rankings are calculated from data available through Apple Health and Fried Chicken's systems. They may be incomplete, delayed, duplicated, corrected or otherwise inaccurate because of device or wearable syncing, permissions, source-app behavior, time-zone changes, connectivity, service outages or integrity checks.

Fried Chicken is a motivational and informational tool, not a medical device, emergency service or source of medical advice. Do not use its numbers for diagnosis, treatment, safety-critical decisions, insurance, employment or any purpose that requires an exact measurement.

Changes

We may update this policy as Fried Chicken changes. The date above identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through the app or website when appropriate.
